Understanding the Qard Hasan Balance Sheet

This balance sheet shows the financial position of the Quranic Finance – Qard Hasan Fund. It helps donors, borrowers, and community members see where the money comes from and how it is used, ensuring full transparency.

What Is a Balance Sheet?

A Balance Sheet is a financial statement that shows the overall position of a fund at a certain point in time. It tells you what the organization owns (Assets) and where that money came from (Funds & Liabilities).

In short:

💡 It’s a picture of what we have and how we used it — taken on a specific date.

A balance sheet always has two sides:

  • Assets → what the fund owns or has given out

  • Funds & Liabilities → where the money came from

In Quranic Finance – Qard Hasan fund, we show these clearly so everyone can understand the movement of funds in a fair & transparent way.

Elements of Qard Hasan Balance Sheet

1. Cash & Cash Equivalents

These represent the funds currently available — either in hand, in the bank, or in mobile financial service (MFS) accounts. You can find the breakdown in the Cash Book, which clearly shows how much balance is held in each bank account and mobile financial service (MFS) account.

If anyone wishes to verify the real-time balance, we warmly welcome them to reach out. Our team will gladly share the information to ensure full transparency and trust, as openness is one of the core principles of the Qard Hasan fund.

If Cash & Cash Equivelents shows zero (0) balance, it means all available cash has already been disbursed as Qard Hasan loans to those in need.

This reflects the spirit of Qard Hasan — money doesn’t sleep; it serves.

💡 In Islamic charity finance, idle money is not encouraged. Once donated, it should be promptly used for helping others.

2. Loan Disbursed

This section shows the total amount of Qard Hasan (interest-free) loans that have been provided to borrowers. Detailed information is available on the Loan Summary page, including:

Number of centers • Total borrowers • Total fund • Total available fund • Total disbursed • Total recovered • Total outstanding • Total overdue • % of available fund • % of outstanding • % of overdue

In addition, a list of borrowers is also provided for full transparency.

Anyone wishing to verify the data or confirm borrower details is most welcome — we will gladly share borrower contact information to ensure complete authenticity and trust in the Qard Hasan process.

It is worth mentioning that, in line with the principles of Shariah and the true spirit of Qard Hasan, borrowers are required to repay only the exact amount borrowed — with no interest, profit, or additional charge of any kind.

Example: If someone borrows 10,000 taka for medical expenses, they will return exactly 10,000 taka when able — no more, no less.

The total disbursed amount therefore shows how much of the fund is actively serving the community, providing hope and relief to those in need.

3. Total Assets

The Total Assets represent the sum of everything the fund currently holds, including cash in hand, bank or MFS balances, and loans disbursed to borrowers.

It reflects the total value of the fund’s resources, showing how much has been entrusted and is being managed under the Qard Hasan program.

A balanced total asset value ensures that every taka received from donors or lenders is properly utilized — either kept as cash or already serving the community through Qard Hasan loans.

4. Donation

Donations represent the permanent funds contributed by generous individuals for the sake of Allah. These are non-refundable contributions — given with the intention of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) — and are used to provide Qard Hasan (interest-free) loans to those in need.

💚 In Qard Hasan context:

Every taka donated becomes a source of continuous reward, as it keeps revolving within the community — when one borrower repays, the same money is lent again to help another person.

This section shows how much of the fund’s strength comes from voluntary contributions, reflecting the collective spirit of compassion, generosity, and social responsibility inspired by Islamic values.

5. Loan

Loan represents any temporary Qard Hasan (interest-free) loans received by the Qard Hasan fund itself from supporters or well-wishers. These are not donations, but trust-based funds that the organization is responsible for returning to the lender at an agreed time — without any interest, profit, or additional benefit.

In essence, these are short-term Amanah (trusts) that help the fund continue its activities smoothly when additional cash flow is needed.

If this section shows zero (0), it means the fund currently has no outstanding obligations — all activities are financed entirely by donations and community contributions.

🌿 This reflects self-reliance and transparency — the fund operates purely on voluntary charity, not debt.

6. Total Liabilities / Funds

The Total Funds & Liabilities represent the combined value of all donations (permanent funds) and any temporary loans received (liabilities) that the fund is currently managing. Together, they show the total sources of money that have been entrusted to the Qard Hasan fund — whether as Sadaqah Jariyah (charity) or Qard Hasan (interest-free loans).

In simple terms, this is where all the money came from, while the Assets section shows where that money went. Every taka received must appear here — nothing extra, nothing missing.

How to Check Accuracy and Gain Trust

A Balance Sheet is considered accurate and balanced when the Total Assets equal the Total Funds & Liabilities. In simple terms, this means every taka received by the fund — whether as a donation or a temporary interest-free loan — has been properly recorded and used.

✅ Formula: Total Assets = Total Funds & Liabilities

If both sides match, it confirms that:

  • Every donation has been either kept safely as cash or used to provide interest-free loans.

  • Nothing is missing, misused, or overstated.

  • The fund’s financial record is complete and transparent.

Example in Qard Hasan Context

Suppose the fund received 50,000 taka in donations and 10,000 taka as a temporary Qard Hasan loan — totaling 60,000 taka in funds.
If the Assets side shows 60,000 taka consisting of Loan Disbursed (55,000) and Cash in Hand (5,000), the balance sheet is accurate and balanced.

This simple equality assures donors and community members that the fund is being managed responsibly — every taka received has a clear purpose, a clear record, and a clear outcome.

🌿 Trust, Transparency &  Responsibility

Every figure in this balance sheet carries more than financial meaning — it represents trust (Amanah), transparency (Bayyanah), and responsibility (Mas’uliyyah).

In Qard Hasan, money is not a commodity for profit, but a trust from Allah to be used for the good of others.

Maintaining a transparent balance sheet is therefore both a financial practice and an act of worship. It ensures that every donor, borrower, and visitor can see — nothing is hidden, nothing is wasted, and every taka serves a purpose.
